When a Family Breaks Apart, the Conflict Doesn't Have To

Psychologically informed family mediation — including arrangements for pets — from a WTA mediator with the FMA.

What Mediation Is — and What It Isn't

When a relationship ends or a family fractures, the legal route deals with what is owned and who gets what. It rarely deals with what is actually happening between the people involved.

Mediation is different. It is a structured, neutral process that allows all parties to communicate clearly, reduce conflict and reach agreements that hold — without the escalation, cost and damage of litigation.

Most mediators are trained in process. I am also a psychologist with over a decade of clinical experience in attachment, relational dynamics and family systems work. That changes what happens in the room. I understand why people get stuck — not just that they are stuck.

Who is This For

Separating or divorcing couples Navigating co-parenting arrangements, communication structures and shared decisions about children — without needing to return to solicitors every time something shifts.

Families in conflict Where communication has broken down between parents, siblings or across generations and a structured, neutral process is needed.

Disputes involving pets Pets are family. In separation and divorce, decisions about where a pet lives, who is responsible for their care and how shared arrangements work are increasingly a source of real conflict — and rarely handled well by legal processes alone. I offer mediation specifically for couples navigating pet custody and care as part of a wider separation.

How It Works

We begin with a MIAM (Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting), a short individual meeting with each party separately. This allows me to understand your position and confirm that mediation is the right route forward.

If both parties wish to proceed, joint sessions are structured, time-limited and focused on reaching workable agreements.

Sessions are available online and in person.

MIAM £120 per person — individual meeting, approximately 45–60 minutes.

Joint Mediation Session £280 per person — 2-hour session including record of session and routine follow-up.

Most cases resolve within two to three joint sessions — typically well under £1,000 per person in total, and significantly less than the cost of legal proceedings.

Mediation is currently offered under supervised practice as part of final FMA accreditation requirements.
